to all who sent information. I was able to convert my old Eagle Fish/Depth Finder from a transom attached transducer to an internal (shoots through the hull) transducer and guess what, no holes in the hull. I tested the hull for the best location by using a zip lock bag full of water and my transducer. Then I purchased a PCV connector, put it in place, filled it with epoxy and set the transducer in place. In 90 minutes I had a great set up. I have a Hunter 235 and located the transducer starboard aft inside the locker under the main birth. It does not shoot through the water balast tank. I tried to set it under the v birth with no luck. I ran the wires underneath to the battery and then up through the hole in the battery locker, under the seat and its back. I used a couple of suction cups with hooks to keep the wires out of the way. It runs across to the companionway, through the hatch cover channel and to the finder which, mounted on a piece of walnut with little rubber feet, sits on my hatch cover while I sail. I can see the depth (and fish if so inclined) from any point in the cockpit and when I'm done sailing, I pull it back inside, out of weather and harms way. Thanks again for all the advice. Hayden

I guess I missed that thread

Tell me more about the PVC coupling and how you mounted it, please. I have mine shooting thru hull now, but use KY Jelly and duct tape (you can tell I'm a southern boy, huh?) after unsuccessful attempts at permanent mounts with RTV and epoxy.

Look at Sail Magazine May 2002 ... page 103. It shows what I did. Of course, I had to use a bigger diameter piece of PCV since my transducer is bigger than the one shown. I idin't bother with the cap they show. I found the shooting location. Set the PCV pipe (about 2.5 inches in diameter) in place. I then put into the PCV about 1.5 inches of marine clear epoxy. I stirred it up to remove bobbles and mic the drying agent in. I then set the transduce in and checked its shooting ability. I locked it in place for about 90 minutes. It works great. Since the PCV won't sit flat to the bottom, I lost some epoxt out the sides. Nothing mjotr and it kinda seals the PCV permanently. I hope I hnbevder have to remove it. It'll mean cutting a hope in the bottom. Be sure the transducer sits level as it dries or you'll be shooting the wrong angle and depths. What size boat do you have and where are you placing the transducer? Fair winds ............ Capt Hayden
