Does anyone have any experience at the Demopolis Yacht Basin???? I plan to move my boat to the coast soon down the Tennessee Tombigbee waterway. Three years ago moving it up stream we stopped at Demopolis and it was alright. They let us use their courtesey car and we bought grocerys and I changed the oil and we washed clothes showered etc. Going back downriver I need to pull my mast and maybe change the standing rigging and get a bottom job. I can do this on Pickwick lake ,Demopolis or Mobile. Demopolis is great as it is about 200 miles from Mobile and about the same distance from Birmingham by car. I might drive there this weekend to talk to the owners but references from other sailers count a lot. Thanks , A good mechanic on-site would be a big plus. I would like to have the boat in good condition before we cruise the coast. The engine and standing rigging are my biggest concerns. http://www.demyb.com/index.php?page=dry-storage-yard

If you go as far as Mobile to pull her, you might be much better off, at least as far as money is concerned, to take it on over to Slidell. Place called Lake Catherine Marine. Just had mine out over there, and the rates were absolutely unbeatable. I had the boat pulled, I painted the bottom and the topsides while it was out. Had a little glass work done on the rudder, and the mast picked up, in order to put a 1/4 spacer under it. Boat was in the yard for 32 days, and the total cost was $645.00. I understand that if you go in there and act like an ass the prices do go way up.
