This past Wednesday, the very last 260 came to my yard which is for sale. It was befitting that this boat came to me as I felt the water ballasted Hunters came to life as a result of me and my imput. I appreciate all the kind comments over the years as to a great boat to include the 24,, 23.5, 26 and of course the 19. I have many friends who I have come to know and many regrets that the 260 is no longer available of which I have two. Hunter has decided to go into another direction and as of yet, I still do not know the final information on the new 25. As a result of these boats, many purchased the larger Hunters. Maybe it is a sign that this old fart head go on to the happy hunting ground as I too was hurt with the demise of the 260. Who knows what the future holds but I can tell you I was damn proud whenever I sold one of those boats as if it were my child and to be blunt pride. Thank you for all of you to the support and belief of the Hunter 260.

Crazy Dave

I spent the better part of two years looking at various types of boats, both sail and power, trailerable and slipped. This web page and your participation led me to the Berchams at Select Yachts and my eventual decision for a 260. You don't know how much many of us appreciate your ramblings and your personable flair. Don't go away. You and I still have much to talk about re; our other hobby (Ferrous equinus). Hang In There Dave!!

Hey Dave, Hang in there. Without people like you companies like Hunter wouldn't be able to make steps in the right direction. I am wondering, and hoping, that Hunter will realize what they have done and they will come out with a waterballest boat once again. I think that they are going to loose a huge chunk of the market to Catalina (C 250) and MacGreggor. Once this happens they will have to supply the demand.

Don't get Lost

Don't get lost in the world of Catalinas. You should be proud of your work. I am among the many people who appreciate your help and expertise with the 26/260. People like me need lots of help understanding their boat.

Need your Expertise

This was my 1st season sailing. After a year of research I purchased a 240. I have found the information on this forum extremely valuable. In particular, when I am reading this forum or searching the archives, I look for Crazy Dave's post. If there ever was an expert on Hunter Sailboats it's Crazy Dave. You'll never know the number of sailors, old and new you have helped along the way. Thank you, and I look forward to many more years of your expertise.

Hey Dave Want some more TRAINS?

Crazy and I have been friends for way to long time and have had too much white ligthning. Dave can I say that here... Dave is correct about moving up, I bought a H19 then a H260 and THEN a H356 - all from Dave. Maybe that why he likes me or is Joan? Dave? Jim S/V Java

I'm rather supprised

That Hunter have not shown perhaps some interest and responded on this forum as to why they decided to drop the 260. Surely this info can not be so confidential?

Can't, Mark

As dumb as it sounds, the prevailing legal and PR wisdom in the states is to not respond corporately in internet forums. Generally, it's because of the flaming, pile-on nature that precludes a reasoned response and the nature of litigation potential for out-of-context statements. This forum may be an exception, but no one would risk it. RD

Thanks for the support

As for te trains, I am an N scale model rairoad fan. When I am away from boats, you can guess what. As for Jim and Joan Seamons, they are dear friends of mine who have bought boats from me over the years. I guess he has confidence in me. I am not afraid to let my feelings known. I guess I do not care about litigation any more as this world has gone to fiddlesticks but what I do post is an opinion based on knowledge and experience. I know my boats to include the mid size range and now the rest of those Hunters. Many things that can go wrong I usually find for example the recall on the fire suppression systems. I also do things which I pioneered central heat and air on the 260 and guess what, I did it on the Catalina 250. I enjoy what I do and meeting folks like you and being able to help is rewarding enough for me which makes me feel good.
