I am skeptical of the anodized aluminun hardware where the forestay connects to the bow,i have heard one instance where it has broke at the shackle hole, leading to a demasting. This has led to demastphobia.Perhaps someone could remedy this concern. thank you

Anodized Aluminum

can be plenty strong if it is a strong alloy to start with, eg 7000 series. If the anodization is worn off you could have a problem with dis-similar metals and galvanic corrosion. Is the connection aluminum to aluminum or to some other metal? Might check on here to see what others with your boat have done: http://www.grampianowners.com/glinks.html

Where did you hear that? Why do you think it is anodized? The casting on the G-26 is overdesigned for stress etc., and your forestay will snap long before the bow casting comes apart. That is of course, unless you have run into something and caused a crack in the casting. Here is a link for you to check. Cheers,
