I have a 2002 Hunter 356 I have owned it since new This year I have detected a perfectly round area of possible delamination on the lower nbow starbord side (see photo) I t is hard to see and even harder to photograph, but it is clearly visible when the light is right I have waxed this area countless time s and this condition was never apparent before. Although it is protruding, it is firm and not spongy Does anyone have any ideas as to what this is? John

Had voids on mine too...

I had a few small voids on the port side of my 2003 356 port side amidships. Repair was to drill a small hole down to the void, fill the void with a syringe filled with epoxy, sand down to area smooth, and then gelcoat over area. I found mine while under warrantee. Mine were about 1" to 3" in diameter. It looks like yours is much bigger. Even though the warrantee for the hull is 5 years, you might contact Hunter anyway. They are usually pretty good about taking care of problems that are obviously caused by their production of the boat. Mine is Hull #312. Steve

Make that 3

I found a void about 2-1/2 inches long and 3/4 inch wide just under the gelcoat just below the port bootstripe about midship last week. I was coompounding the the wide blue bootstripe and felt a soft spot just below it. I pushed harder and the gelcoat cracked. I started tapping the area with the end of a screw driver and found that the void was small and shallow. I showed the spot the fiberglass repairman at the yard and he said he would grind it out, fill it and repair the gelcoat for $150. The boat is a 2002 H356. When I bought it last May, the surveyor did a tap sounding over most of the deck and hull. He found 22 small areas where he suspected delamination. None of the areas had cracked or soft and he found no evidence of moisture intrusion. He recommneded watching the areas and if there was ever evidence of cracking, to have the area repaired.
