Re: 1978 O'day 30. One of the spreaders deflects slightly fore and aft when I vigorously push/pull the upper shroud fore and aft. Someone told me this is a serious defect. Before I take it to a boat yard and pay them to send someone aloft to inspect it, I wonder if anyone knows whether a small amount of movement is normal for an old boat or should the spreader be tightly rigid against the mast? The other spreader seems to be tight. I can't see that there is any fore and aft force against the spreader in sailing and the lateral force shouldn't do any damage. Any advice??
