Deep Keel vs Shoal Keel

The purpose of the winged keel was to keep the underwater foil engaged in the flow and the boat on it's feet (upright) so that the sails can lift the boat to windward. The winged keel is a foil aspect multiplier. Everything is a compromise, including the value of your desire to boat into shoal water.
Australia invented the winged keel to circumvent the America's Cup draft limits. Volume boat builders glommed on to this as a gimmick for " wannabe racers". Now it is a permanent fixture in boat sales.

Very true.

Now it is a permanent fixture in boat sales.
Hmmm. I figured this started to die 15 years ago, and was gone for the last 10 years. Do you know any any boat designed in the last 10 years with a wing keel? I can't think of one.

I came across this post and I am very interested if you went with the tall rig with the shoal draft boat. I have been toying with the idea for several years and would like to get some first hand experience with the set up.
