I recently purchased a Hunter 45 and the deep freezer doesn't get cold? I turn on the powe and I can hear it running but after a half hour or more, it doesn't get cold. Any suggestions on how and where to start trouble shooting? Also, how do you remove the unit?

If this is the same as on my Hunter 50, the first place I would start is to swap out the Secop 101N0212 Electronic Controller. If your boat has a refrigerator, there is probably one there which you could use for a test. I would suggest however purchasing a new one on ebay for $162.00 as your going to need it sooner or later. You can also check to see if the secop unit is flashing a trouble code, but I bet it will need to be replaced.
I can do that, but where do I find that controller? My main fridge and freezer is next to the deep freezer but how do I accesses the deep freezer? Does it come out from the top or do I need to remove the fridge to get to it? How does the fridge come out?
The controller should be inside the freezer box. As to the rest, isn't the condenser unit under the settee which can open? How old is the system?
The setee is very far away and the only condenser there is for the forward A/C. Supposedly, the refrigerator and freezer have a self contained compressor. Boat is a 2006.

I assume that you are referring to the drop down freezer next to the main frig/freezer. In either case you have to move the frig/freezer by pulling it out to access the compressor and controller for either unit. This difficult, as you have to wiggle it side to side as you pull forward. Once the unit is out you can access the drop down freezer compressor and controller via a small access hole. It is very tight and you litterly have to climb in behind the frig/freezer. If you have to remove the freezer you can not lift it straight out and have to separate the compressor and have a helper pull the box while another guides the compressor out of the hole. You do not have to cut the gas lines in order to remove. I have done this and you will want to protect the floor as you pull outthe frig/freezer from its location
I got to the freezer and I’m pretty sure I need a new compressor, it’s leaking oil. I was unable to pull out the box after separating the compressor because it doesn’t have room to tilt or come straight out and clear the upper cabinet. It seems Hunter installed it before setting the counter top. I only need a 1/2 inch to get it to come out.

I used one of these to fix one of my freezers, Isotherm 2010-SX Compact Air Cooled Refrigeration Component System with ISEC. Was easy to install, works better then original unit.
