The decorative striping on our 1985 Hunter 28.5 is on its last legs and we would like to replace it. Does anyone know where we can get an exact match at a reasonable price? Thanks!
Ask your marina for the signmaker who comes to your boat. While you can save money by removing the old striping using a hairdryer and razor blade (careful not to hurt the boat, never mind you), it's well worth it to have a pro put the lines on. No wobblies or stretch.
When I bought this boat in 2003, it had decorative striping on the cabintop that was in deteriorating condition. I thought about replacing it, but decided just to remove it. I'm glad I did as I think the boat looks better. I realize it's all in the eye of the beholder....
West marine has various widths and colors but not the multi color original boot stripe. I replaced mine with metalic silver and navy blue from W.M. several years ago. Check out: www.huntertwentyeightfive.com ; Galery; Hull stripes on Celebration II. The old stripes leave enoughof a ghost that it is easy to measue and re-install similar stripes with just a few graphite pencil marks for guides.
