Yesterday I replaced my aging deck vents with new Nicro Solar Day/Night 2000 vents which work beautifully. I have one in the foredeck hatch, and one on the cabin top. (The boat is a Catalina 27). My question: should I have one set for intake and one set for exhaust? Or both for exhaust? (There is a passive vent in the companionway hatchboard, which allows a lot of air to flow.) I want to minimize moisture and stale air to prevent mildew and musty smells. Randy

Both out if you have an open vent elsewhere ...

hot steamy air rises to the top ... best place to get rid of it.

Thanks all

I have decided to run both vents in exhaust mode, since there is a large passive vent in my companionway hatch to allow fresh air to enter. Thanks for the advice. Randy
