I recently purchased an 1984 36 foot Catalina. The outer surfaces are faded, not bad, but I need to use something to restore them. What should I use on the sides and top. I read some articles about gel coat restorers. Should I use one of these products or wax. I look forward to your response. Baron/EXALTE DEI

several options

I use 3M wax with UV inhibitors which works fine, but you will definately compromise some safety, since it is a bit slick. Others have had great success using Future wax on non skid. I have never tried it and you have to watch out when applying it or it turns yellow. I have also never tried things like island girl, etc that claim to restore your shine.

The title says it all. Use what the pros use 3M restoreation products.

not on non-skid!

The 3M product is a wax, and as such, should never be used on non-skid. Have you looked at the Island Girl products here?
