Having trouble with mast light . If I test the deck plug I get 12.6 volts at the plug . If I remove the three prong plug that goes to the mast and test the wires I can't get anywhere near 12 volts . I took the plug apart , cleaned everything with contact cleaner and added dialectic and still no where near 12 volts . It is just some prongs and wire with screws , I don't see how it could go bad . I am ready to buy a new deck pllug but west marine only had 2 and 4 prong plugs . I would rather not have to replace the deck outlet itself since I am getting voltage out of it . Is this something the store here might carry ? Thanks as usual , Mike

When you have the lights disconnected there is no load in the circuit and the high resistance (somewhere) does not cause a voltage drop. When you plug the lights in current flows in the loop and that causes a voltage drop.

At the connector, with the lights connected check the voltage between battery positive and the positive going up to the light. If there is more than maybe 0.25 volts there is a bad connection between the battery positive and the plug. Check the voltage difference between the battery negative and the negative going up to the light. If there is more than 0.25 volts there is a bad connection between the battery negative and the plug.

This might save replacing a non defective plug.
