Deck Plug Suggestions

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knew where to buy good quality electrical deck plugs. I need new plugs to replace the two at the base of my mast that supply power to the steaming and anchor lights. The plugs that I have right now are these crappy, chrome perko plugs that came with the boat when I bought it. The problem with the plugs is that aside from all the chrome peeling off, the connections have corroded and they no longer carry electricity. I have tediously tried to sand off the corrosion to make the plugs work again, but that only lasts for about a month before they stop working again. My patience is at an end with these plugs and I am looking to replace them, but I can't really find anything. I am certainly not going to buy these plugs again. Any suggestions on where to look and what to buy?

I wish i could help, but my H27 just has two rubber deck fittings that the mast wires run through. I've never really liked them but they don't leak, so at least that's something.

hello all

I have installed the deck plug on my Kittiwake 23' sailboat... when you insert it into the receptacle, you then tighten down a ring that holds it all together and it has a rubber washer to seal it against water intrusion... when it is not plugged together, there are caps that close it off to keep the water out... I got the "4-Pin Waterproof Electrical Deck Connector Plug,S4P"

on my Morgan 35' sailboat, the wires go down close to the bottom of the mast at the tabernacle in the keel... I have a terminal board next to it, to attach all the wires to...

Once you get it free of corrosion, or better yet, before the corrosion starts, use a silicone grease to lubricate and protect it...
if corrosion can never start to form, you will always have a good contact at the connection...

Thank you all very much for your help. I just purchased two of the Polarized Sea-Dog line plugs that you screw together to make a weather tight seal. I also bought some silicone grease to guard against corrosion. I'm so happy that I'm finally about to have good, reliable deck plugs. You have no idea how annoying my current plugs have been all season.
