Deck painting

I am getting ready to paint my deck and I am wondering how most hardware is connected to the deck? I have a cabin insert that makes it impossible for me to see if there are any nuts and washers behind all the bolts that hold things down. Should I tape and paint around all the hardware or is most just connected by screws secured to the deck? Thanks for the help.

I know what you mean about the cabin insert! My H22 has the same thing. I would tape around things and then paint it. What type of paint are you going to use? I might paint my deck in the near future and I am just curious what you are going to use.
