Considering painting the white top deck as well as the tan non-skid. Looking for recommendations and tips on brand, tools, etc. Thanks! Rod

Hi Rod. Congratulations on your first post.

Have you looked at the offerings by TotalBoat?

What are you hoping to accomplish? Looking for a mirror finish on a $300K yacht or something less expensive and will be looking good for a couple years.

Once you paint you will be painting the rest of the boat life.

I refinished my worn, molded non-skid area with Kiwi-Grip. The molded surface had developed many small, no permeable hairline cracks. Originally, I intended to paint the deck with a thing primer coat to fill the crazing like cracks, before painting over with a nonskid style paint. However, after a little research I took the Kiwi-Grip option. The water based product is rolled on fairly thick, covering all the molded surface dimples as well as the cracks, then a special texture roller is used to easily create the non slip surface to whatever level of aggressiveness is desired. High traffic areas can be touched up easily by just rolling some more "goop" on worn surfaces as needed. That said I've needed very little extra maintenance since I applied the original 9 years ago. It's an easy, cost effective solution that will give your older boat an impressive face lift. Btw, it is certainly DIY friendly. Lots of YouTube vids on the product.

This guy did a great job on his 22. There's a few tips on painting in there as well Catalina 22 Paint project with Alexseal.

I would not recommend the Interlux non-skid. Too aggressive. Just below the threshold for damage to the skin most of the time but it did happen on occasion. Using less would not make the granuals any less sharp
