Deck paint

Anybody ever use Krylon or automotive spray paint in a can for deck paint

I have heard of porch and deck paint. Some good reports.

I have heard of folks who have used Krylon for a boot stripe. I have had success with it on my dorade vents. No experience with doing a whole deck.

How many cans of that paint would it take to do the deck on a 30 footer??? And at what cost??

My deck edges are done with a good Porch and Deck enamel, and the non skid with Interlux Interdeck.

I used Krylon to do the dorades and the pedestal on my 34 but never on deck. Wonder how many cans it would take and would it pool up on the non-skid ?

Why would you want to use that paint? There are so many ready to use deck paints at reasonable prices to use that hold up much better. Also nonskid paints should be satin and not shiny or they will be slippery underfoot when wet, even if they have grit in them.

It would be impossible to keep the overspray from getting everywhere unless you masked EVERYTHING you didn't want the paint to get on - including the hull all the way down to the waterline! Also any unwanted paint that did happen to get on gelcoat would be difficult to get off and may cause discoloration.
