removehtml]I own a 1981 Hunter 25. The deck is in need (I believe) of a paint job. Very chalky...If you were going to deal with this problem, what would you do? If paint is the answer, what kind of paint would you use? Thanks, JeffError: Error: expected [/URL], but found [/removehtml] instead[/removehtml]

Interlux

I would opt for the Interlux deck paint. Already has the non-skid and flatner in it. Once you make the decision to paint, then why not make it easy on yourself. I have used Brightside with the Interlux nonskid and flatner on a couple of boats before they had their premixed version and they have held up very well.

Maybe paint isn't needed

If the gelcoat isn't thin, you could try wetsanding with extremely fine grit (ie 1000 or 1500 grit) sandpaper then either compounding and waxing or just use poliglow. You'd be surprised. Manny

Hunter Marine

You can order a can of the original paint/gel coat for your deck directly from Hunter Marine. Look for them under "Boat Info" on this web site. There has been a lot of discussion on this topic so take a look at the forum archives.
