Hi, Thanks for the link provided in searching for a Deck Hatch. I hav a qwuestion has anyone tried buying a plexiglass piec for the flat model hatch and just replacing the existing hatch. My thought was to have a 3/8" piece of plexiglass cut to the same size then attach with the hinges, has anyone tried this and does it work.

New Hatch

Rick, I just replaced my cracked hatch on a 94 C-270. I ordered direct from Pompanette/ Bomar in NH. They will ship you the exact replacement acylic lens and gasket. Easy to replace but pricey at $144 for the lens but certain yours will be less. Look for a serial # under hatch between hinges. Mine was shaped like a trapezoid.

Don't do it Rick!

Get the proper replacement solid hatch for a C27. They’re way stronger, you can stand on them. Imagine putting the sail cover on and finding yourself cut up and bleeding downstairs. My old boat had the lexan’ish hatch, my 1974 C27 has the solid one. It’s much nicer having to do anything around the mast without worrying about where you step. When your under sail and need to be doing stuff around the mast …….. Think about it. Ferg

Thanks, do you happen to have an e-mail address or telephone number for that hatch replacement in NH. Obviously does not include the hardware.
