HI all. I want to drill some holes in my deck, (coach roof) for some new hardwear. I want to make the halyards lead back to the cockpit so I can raise and lower sails from there. I have an old O'Day 22. She was built in 1976. There is an outer deck and an inner lineing. My question is should I take any special measures? I am thinking of drilling and filling with epoxy and then drilling again for the bolts. Is this needed? What would you do? Thanks Alex

that's the way

your process is correct. I'd also add a drop of silicone to the hardware as you bolt them down (just for added precaution)

Check out this book before drilling/epoxying...

Don Casey's "Sailboat Hull and Deck Repair". Good drawings, thorough descriptions, solid reference manual. That is, if you've never really done this kind of work before....
