I am looking at a 1970s Catalina 22 that seems generally in good shape for a boat its age. HOWEVER, the foredeck appears to be delaminating at bow pulpit. There is a good bit of crazing around the mounts, and I can rock the bow pulpit and see the deck move.My question: how is the forestay attachment point mounted in this boat. Is its ultimately glassed into the hull? If I can rock the bow pulpit, I am assuming this is probably past the "drill it out and inject some epoxy" point. Am I looking at sawing up the deck here and replacing part of it?Owner says "not to worry, its cosmetic" and results from 10+ years of kids using the bow pulpit to pull themselves up from swimming. My thought is "deck moves close to forestay and I don't want the mast to come down". (I haven't been inside the boat to look inside the forpeak yet; owner wasn't there when I first looked at it). This would be my first Catalina (hell, my first boat all of my own, and the first over 16'), so any guidance would be appreciated. I cant' figure out how to search this archive, and can't google up anything on deck delamination specific to the Catalina.TIAmarkfolseATrocketmail.com
