The deck on my new to me 1986 Catalina 30 is remarkable for it's lack of stress cracks and other blemishes. As it sits in the elements all summer long, I would like to know how to best keep her topsides protected. Waxing seems like a bad idea for obvious reasons. I'd like to know how you protect your decks and keep them looking as good as possible.
Thanks
Jeff

Interesting that you state obvious reasons.
Would you share those reasons?
Waxing is what much of what I'm reading recommends to maintain the surface coating on your boat.

I know of one chap who does wax his deck. I crewed on it once and found it to be rather slippery. Are you saying this is normal?

I must have missed deck.
I was rendering to just waxing the boat in general.
I was to understand you waxed where people don't walk, and just regularly wash the stepping areas with soap and water.

Sorry for the misstatement.

Evidently in agreement that one should not wax any surface that would be walked or stepped on under any circumstance.... It can ruin your day.
We try to keep all surfaces as smooth and clean as possible. Dirty surfaces will ruin a car's paint and a boats gelcoat so the easiest way to keep it looking good is to keep it clean regularly and always when you take her out.... IMHO!!!!
