When I bought my Catalina 30 it came with another jib. I noticed that it was a hank on sail and I have roller Furling. The jib is, I believe, a working jib. I haven't pulled it out and measured it, totally. The sailbag says Hunter 34 Lapper. I just took a look at the sail. It is in EXCELLENT shape, looks almost new. Originally, I was going to sell the sail because I don't want to have luff tape put on it but now I am debating on what to do with it. I am thinking about sending it to a sailmaker and having lufftape put on it. It would be a nice spare sail and good for heavier winds (it would be useful with the tall rig bow sprit setup that I have).Has anyone put the lufftape on a jib that was originally a hank on setup? How much does it cost? Where is a good place (most Reasonable)to have this done in the area of the middle Chesapeake bay? Would it be better to sell the sail? What could it be worth? I also noticed that Bacon and Associates keeps 35% of the sale price of the sail as brokerage fees. That seems a bit high to me. I am still leaning towards keeping the sail. Any thoughts?
