OK, I got the boat stands set to arrive in a few days. Now I am looking to get a jump start on removing the pinstripe decals along the length of the boat.
Does anyone have any fiberglass safe remover in mind?
Preferably something that can be purchased not ordered.:snooty:

Goo Gone. Goof Off. Anything like that along with a single edge razor blade. The hardest part is getting the last bit of glue residue when you think you're totally finished. Trust me. You won't be finished yet.

Have spent four days removing very large decals in preparation for repaint. Suggest you skip the blades, heat guns, scrapers, et al, et ux and go immediately for an "eraser wheel."

Here is an example:

3M and Astro Pneumatic also make similar wheels and they are available at your local body shop or auto body paint supply.

Once the decal is off follow up with 3M General Adhesive Remover to assure there is no adhesive left behind.

The 3M eraser wheel is by far the easiest and safest method.. you will be done in 10 minutes and looking around the house for other decals to remove :)

With anything, you need to be careful on applying pressure to the buffer with the wheel or anything else to prevent burning the gel coat. This includes speed of the buffer or drill.

I removed some large lettering from my '23. Got a cheap heat gun from Harbor Freight. This made it fairly easy to remove the decal. The hard part was using Goof Off to dissolve the residue. I imagine the 3M wheel may be easier.

Yo, Steve Dion

I have a technical question that only someone with 14,000 posts can answer. Didn't find your email in the Owner listings. Please email me at bodonovan8@gmail.com. Thanks, Capt. Bill O'Donovan, H320.

Goo Gone and Goof Off are good. Typically anything with xylene in it will work-- also for duct tape and masking-tape residue. Xylene isn't quite strong enough to damage paint but don't apply too much at a time. Just dribble a bit on a rag and rub hard. Xylene will not harm gelcoat at all (unless you were maybe to soak it in it).
