Dealer nightmares

After taking delivery of our new 2001, 240 we were told the dealer would visit us and complete the dealer set up as well as fixing any problems, and there were several. The dealer never showed up. They never returned our calls, letters, e-mails, or faxes. We wrote the factory and have received the same treatment. The boat would not sail as we received it. The trailer was damaged badly during delivery. We still have never received all our boat parts. The boat was covered with overspray and really looked as if it were very badly put together. Has anyone else had trouble with Hunter? Steven.

Tom, PLEASE turn off your caps lock?

Typing in all caps online is SHOUTING. Plus, it's very hard to read. Thanks...and Merry Christmas!

Hunter Response

I have had nothing but positive results when dealing directly with Hunter Marine. My dealer was okay, nothing like the problems you've encountered. The only complaint I have with the dealer is the amount they charge for a bottom paint job. It is outrageous. My 23.5 was purchased new in September 1995, so I've talked to Hunter a few times concerning the boat as well as a larger Hunter I own on Chesapeake Bay. They treat me the same regardless if I'm talking about the 23.5 or the 40.5. Good luck. Bill Jones
