De-Laminating Wall Covering in Head

Hi All! Apologies if this has been covered somewhere. I didn't read all of the 500+ posts.

Have a 1987 Hunter 31. Twenty plus years of good use and hard winters has the interior covering in the head de-laminating.

It sort of looks like formica but is more of a white veneer. Very thin and at this point egg-shell fragile.

I'd like to have it replaced but have no idea where to start. Local boat stores are clueless and trying to avoid a high priced yacht yard repair.

See photo below

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Looks like melamine coated plywood. In my opinion, your best bet would probably be to sand, and recover in Plastic Laminate (Formica, Nevamar, etc.)

Tools needed would be sandpaper, Contact cement, sheet mica laminate (color of your choice), Router, laminate trim router bit, and a laminate roller (I have used an old kitchen rolling pin)
