I just found this photo in my archives and thought it would be a good idea to post with winter coming.

For those of you who remove your mast and or boom for winter and want to avoid those nasty spring time tangles in main sheet, boom vang or other block assemblies simply snug the two blocks together and knot or jamb the line.

This prevents them from twisting inside out over the winter and makes re-rigging in the spring a snap with no tangles. Simple but effective.

Thanks Maine Sail. Good tip. I learned this one years ago when storing the downhaul for my windsurfer rigs.

You just reminded me I need to buy another fiddle block from Garhauer.

BTW, for all of you out there who celebrate Christmas, the best way to store light strings is to roll them in a ball. My wife taught me this one. I remember my dad cursing the light strings every December when he spent hours and countless glasses of scotch untangling them. A real Clark Griswald:D

I solved the Christmas light problem.I don't take them down. Clear bulbs don't fade. This drove my wife crazy, but 17 yr's later she doesn't bug me anymore.
Now I can sail on my weekends.
