daysailor rudder pattern needed

in early october I was hit by a gust & capsised.undamaged & undaunghted I was rescued & righted by a fellow daysailor, but my rudder sank to the bottom. I built a quick, temporary replacemant for a post-thanksgiving sail. this winter I want to build a proper swing rudder. I don't want to spend $375 for a new one. what type of wood should I use. I just purchased a daysailer and have found a great amount of info about the boat. One site you might find useful for the dimensions for your rudder is: http://www.daysailer.org/blmeasurement.htm hope this helps...if you can not find what you need you can e-mail me and I can fax it to you our send you the link directly.
