differences
The hulls are identical. The DS I has a wider cuddy opening, and the cb is operated by a lever. It also has a transom deck and the older ones have wooden floors, not sure about the newer ones. The combings are wood. The DS II has a narrower cuddy opening, fg cuddy and cockpit floor, ice box, and a block and line system for the cb. The combings are fg.DS I's are more sought after for racing, because owners feel that they are more rigid. That point is arguable. Certainly there are more DS I's racing, so more DS I's win more races than DS II's. DS II are thought to be better family daysailers because they are self rescuing, (arguable!) Certainly they can be self righted, bailed and sailed away.Because the DS I's are in more demand, the DS II's are a better price bargain.
