I am trying to decide how to mount my 6.6 evinrude to the transom of the day sailor. I have removed a home made mount that was safely bolted through the transom. I have looked at the swing down type, but will require bolting through the hull where I am unable to use a nut. and will have extra holes. I could have a shop remake the old mount to match up with existing holes. Currently the motor drags all the time. The swing mount seems to be adequate except for the bolting?? Suggestions please, comments. Thanks Acubist1@aol.com

OK, take two -

So - that's what happens when you don't read far enough down... Ok - First - are you sure that the engine won't just fit over the transom? That was the idea with the design and you may luck out. If not, I would cut an inspection port into the aft end of the cockpit and through bolt your new mount to it. Most lifting mounts are pretty heavy; I would try to stay simpler. On my daysailer, the engine will lift out of the water without a lifting mount. Do you have an extra long shaft? Justin - O'day Owners' Web
