Have a 1997 Hunter 376 with Ocean Marine Systems Davits. Purchased the boat such equipped. I've got a hard dinghy and the manufacturer recommends that you rig up a bumper system on that portion of the SS rail where the dinghy comes in contact. They recommend foam water pipe insulation with clear plastic tube covering that, all attached with zip ties. Having a hard time finding the larger diameter clear plastic hose to go over the foam. Wondering if anyone has rigged up a similar bumper system or any other ideas for a bumper system.

I would talk to Ocean Marine Systems about rigging your dinghy to their davits. We purchased davits from them and they were very knowledgable about how use them with our dinghy. The dinghy can't be allowed to move at all on the davits.
I think Jim on Java (H356) has a hard dinghy on Ocean Marine davits, you might also ask him about his experience.

Thanks Bob, I really appreciate the input. I've done a substantial amount of reading and do understand that the dinghy must be rigid in it's cradle. That would seem to me just to be common sense that there should be no movement in order to be safe. The first item though is the bumpers. Just need some ideas in making them. I bought the foam pipe insulation already but need an idea as to how to protect the foam.

Dinghy

Many ways to protect dinghy depending how much $$$$ and I got my
Ocean Davits used and they have canvas wrapping like on steering wheel.
Pipe insulation maybe a good idea sold at HD and used plastic ties.
I have soft dinghy but maybe put some kind of rubber bumper wrap around on Dinghy is another way.
