davits on a h31?

Has anyone installed davits on an 80's H31?
I found some for a good price not sure if the space is available
for mounting the foot.

I am looking to do the same with my 85 Hunter 31. My main concern with hanging a dinghy off the back is the addition of weight. I wonder how much the boat will lean back.

To combat this shift in balance I plan on installing a windlass at the bow and replacing my rope anchor rode with chain.

All the added weight may help her feel more stable or it could ruin the handling. We'll see I guess.

I voted against it based on weight. I've already added a lot of weight towards the stern with the 4 golf cart batteries. If the batteries were not there I might consider it depending upon dingy.

My 1982 H31 came with davits on when I bought it a few years ago. They are wonderful, and I can supply pics or details if you need them. I have a nine foot old Avon, which hangs very well on them.

Here are some pics or the davits. I am an amputee, so thebars on top are simply for me to hang onto whilst entering dink. They do stop the whole setup swinging though, so I would recommend using. I realise these are not very good pics, but I am taking the dink off next week, then will get some better ones for you. If anyone needs different shots, just let me know what you want

Ian's steer is no lower than our H'31 was. Our batteries were located over the shaft log, but we also had a 10-12 gal water tank that was mounted in the aft lazarette to supplement to main tank. We only used the aux. water tank when anchoring out for a couple of days.

Doesnt seem to affect it at all. I also have my batteries where Steve's are, and my fresh water tank aft of them on port side, with diesel on starboard. Will be taking dink off this weekend, so will get another (better!) pic for you
