Hi, I am installing dinghy davits on my 390 but would like advice on the maximum weight capacity that my 390 can carry aft without affecting performance, i.e what would be the biggest dinght I should hang off the back? Thanks M

I carry 250 lbs.
I have a 393 and carry a 10'6" dinghy with a 15 hp Yamaha on it. Total weight about 250 lbs. Your max capacity will depend on the davits used and method of attachment. As for affecting performance, I don't understand the question. It's faster than dragging the dink but obviously the boat without a dink at all would go better.

Hi Rick, The davits will be strong - I was more concerned about weighing down the back end of the boat, hence changing waterline profile etc. Do you notice your bow sitting up when the dinghy is on the davits? I have 10ft Caribe RIB dinghy which is quite heavy and I was concerned that I should start looking for something lighter. Regards Mark

I have a 10'06" AB RIB (the lite version) and, as I said, keep the 15hp Yamaha on it. I have an arch (same as the 423) rather than davits but don't really notice any difference in trim.

Mark; I have an Oceanis 400 with a hefty arch that doubles as a davit. My dink is light, a 10' Avon with an 8hp Nissan, but I don't think you'll have any problems even with the heavier dink. I'm considering going to a RIB with a 15hp Something in the not-too-distant future.

standard arch
Captain Dave It's a standard arch for a 423. Order it from Beneteau, needs a bit of shimming at the transom to fit a 393, don't know about the 390.
