Ben, in an answer to a previous post you mentioned that all post-1995 Lewmar winches are super easy to service... How does one determine the vintage of a Lewmar winch. I have two 43's for which I need service kits, but am not sure what & how to order. Is it assumed that if I have 43's they are post 1995? Thanks David

David, If your winches have a screw top then you have post 95'. If there are four hex-head bolts holding the top on, then they are an earlier version. 43's should be a later version..

Word confusions
A few years ago I was given an old winch by a friend for use as a halyard winch on my SJ 24. When I asked what I owed him, his answer was that he had a liking for a nice dry white wine. When I went to the cashier at the liquor store- an attractive lady with a very friendly demeanour- my daughter who was with me commented, upon seeing the total on the cash register " not bad for an old winch" You could see the ice forming!!!
