Like so many others out there, I think my old (1987) depth sounder is coughing up her last breath. She is a Datamarine S-200DL Depth Sounder. I'm wondering what type of transducer/sounder others have replaced their Datamarine with. Though I'm fairly certain that it is the transducer that is my problem since the guage seems just fine I'll probably replace the entire thing. Than there is the problem of cosmetics, making the new square peg fit into the old round hole. Suggestions there?

I also have Datamarine, Last haul I replaced the transducers with Ramarine. The transducers went well, a new backing plate, some scraping , new lifecaulk. Both brands used a 2" transducer so there was no cutting. I haven't replaced the display yet (another $500) I appears that the Raymarine will fit in my old holes. Pat

I had to replace my depth sounder on my Hunter 31 for the reason that the cable from the transducer to the display head had corroded and consequently lost it's ground and of course the transducer and cable are a sealed unit. The display had a hornets nest in it and was also corroded. I purchased a Standard marine which fit perfectly.
I went with Navman. 3100..
and replaced all transducers and head units.. came out pretty well on cost.. sometimes the price of individual pieces is more than the complete unit. check out on Sailnet or West Marine Multi3100 (knot, temp and depth combined) runs about 399 with all parts included. Wind3100 runs about the same.
