Just got back from a week on the Chesapeake, and, after night of rain and thunder, my depth sounder went nuts, and my speedo stopped working all together. [For the rest of the trip, I used my GPS for speed, but that's a different story!] Everything had been working FINE the day before! I was not hit by lightning [I have been before in my 28.5, so I deduced that that was not the problem]. These instruments are mounted on the starboard bulkhead next to companionway. I thought they might have gotten wet, hence, sensitive. I dried [we had a WET week on the Bay!] the connections and re-attached. I put a voltage meter to the connections before the instruments, and fuller power was there ... Once connections were reattached, power was less. I guess I need to know, if there is anything *I* can do, or, do I have to call in the experts!?
