Here's the blonde story to end all blonde stories! A true story.... Last summer, down on Lake Isabella, located in the high desert, an hour east of Bakersfield, California, a blonde, new to boating was having a problem. No matter how hard she tried, she just couldn't get her brand new 22-ft. Bayliner to perform. It wouldn't get on a plane at all, and it was very sluggish in almost every maneuver - no matter how much power she applied. After about an hour of trying to make it go, she putted over to a nearby marina. Maybe they could tell her what was wrong. A thorough topside check revealed everything was in perfect working order. The engine ran fine, the outdrive went up and down, the prop was the correct size and pitch. So, one of the marina guys jumped in the water to check underneath. He came up choking on water, he was laughing so hard. Under the boat, still strapped securely in place, was the trailer. <Author Unknown> comments (positive, negative, or otherwise), may be sent to VTsumani@Yahoo.com

Ah geeeze...not that old chestnut again!!!

It is NOT a true story...it has been attributed to blondes in at least 30 states. And NO one with one and half a mind SHOULD fall for it...'cuz think about it: The alleged blonde bimbette took the boat to a marina, where some allegedly more intelligent brunette (or maybe bald?) men gave it a thorougfh examination before going into the water. Yet these allegedly more intelligent persons with darker hair supposedly failed to see any cable attached to a winch on the trailer tongue--which should have been out of the water...they checked the outdrive, but never saw any tail lights or license plate below it...and completely missed the straps across the top the boat that--allegedly--held this boat onto the trailer. That you would pass try to pass this off as a true story only leads me to one conclusion: YOU are a blonde!! :)))))

It dosen't matter if it's a true story, it's a funny one. Besides, what else can one expect from a power boater:))) Luv The Pirate of Sha-lin

more to story

It seems that there was more to the story! There were four gals on this boat. One was assigned to disconnect the chain from the trailer to the car, one was assigned to disconnect the trailer lights, one was assigned to make sure the trailer winch was drawn tight to the boat while the fourth was assigned to make the straps aft were secured tightly to the trailer. There was a fifth gal that was suppose to go ,her job was to insert the plug. That is why they could not plane the boat.(she was a no show) It was too heavy with water as they usually could plane it with the trailer attached....Gary

Blond not required

Having read the story and replies, I must say that I actually saw an incident of that nature. However, the boat-owner was a brunette guy, well, graying, about 40 yrs old, with several years of experience sailing and racing on Santana 20's. It was just before dark during the summer, he was in a hurry to get his S-20 in the water (returning from racing elsewhere) and didn't take time make a final pre-launch check. He made seveal efforts to get boat and trailer apart, including pulling out and re-backing them into the water. Desperate, with full dark coming on, he stripped to his underwear and went swimming. He then discovered that a rope from the trailer to a stantion base had not been untied. This incident earned him an award for the funnist oops of the year - the golden screw award. If you don't believe me, feel free to ante up for a polygraph.

Read it and weep

How many of you who read this also watched "Who wants to marry a multi millionaire"? Sure its funny or pathetic because its close to something all of us has done, "left the plug out" etc. We all read it and commented so it was funny if true or not, blonde or not. How about the time 4 of us in a Dragon ran aground on a sand bar. I was the only one awake, so I slipped over the side and pushed the boat off, but forgot to get back on as the boat sailed away. After much yelling I managed to wake one of the crew and they came back to get me. This one is true, I was there
