damm weeds

Last weekend I was having fun with my O27 and used the engine to arrive at the dock, sudenly the heat alarm of the engine starts beeping, yes it had sucked weeds, an after checking the punp the impeller was totalled, is there a way to protect the engine water pump from this?, any ideas?thanks

Raw Water Filter

You must have been in some pretty messy water. It also sounds like there is no cover on the intake.You need a raw water filter in between the through hull and the water pump.

Groco

Groco is probably the best known and most used. You can get one from West Marine for about 10 bucks + shipping.Just in case your not familiar with them, I've attached their web site. Just enter key word "raw water filter". You will need a couple of additional items to plumb it but you might be able to find what you need locally.

Typo

You've probably figured it out by now that the 10 bucks was a typo. It's around 100. You can't get the time of day from West Marine for 10 dollars.Here's another link if you want to shop around.
