Just got a new Daggerboard has two lines instead of one. I guess the short line is for security is that the full depth for the board? Frank 26M

You are correct.

There should be a second hole in the hinge mechanism that is above the dagger board. The second rope goes through that hole and then you tie a knot in the end to keep it from going too low. By the way what year is your 26M. What happended to your first dagger board? Jeff K. Oh by the way. I'm currently making some repairs on mine. Stinking rock.

2003 also

We aren't really sure what we hit. we were between Key West and the Dry Tortugas 2 months ago.We were on the "Atlantic side" and in ?deeper water. It could have been an animal or sunken boat. I'll try to post a picture tomorrow when I can get the camara software from my kids. Curious to know if you have found any equipment or changes in the boat that have been helpful. I have made minor mods to the Head and the Mast carrying system. Put an antenna on the mast and am currently raising the seats(can't remember how to spell settes?) to get more storage. I also put a nonMacgregor bimini on it. 50 hp Johnson engine. Putting a fish/depth finder on from our old speedboat. Happy sailing. Jeff K

57 inch limit

I don't know if you have seen it in the manual but you are not supposed to let it go lower than 57 inches below the the deck top.JK

bimini

I'll try to get a picture of my hinge mechanism and post it. The Pilot seats might not work with the bimini. The binini straps need to be adjusted properly. The bimini from the MacGregor dealor is expensive, and the shipping is expensive. I found one from Bartswatersports(CV6933000NVY) that fits and was less than 1/2 the price($200). It can be attached directly with included hardware, or if you have a Genoa you can buy offbrand genoa track slides from defender(612325 ABI/T-track slide) for $20 each and connect with shackle or cable clamp. We just used it on a trip to the Dry Tortugas, and it worked very well. The NVY on the end is just the color(navy) and other colors are available. Was your stove Macgregor item. If not where did you get it?

Other Info.

A couple other info items.1) My smoked glass companionway door shattered when I bumped it with my knee so be careful with it. 2) When I trailor I take th bolt out of the helm and let the mast support pole slide down through its round whole to a 2x4 lying on the deck. This makes it perpendicular to the deck and takes the stress off of the helm. I have to slide the spreadors under the lifelines. but it works much better. 3)I put an antena on top of the mast. To do this I sharpened and then heated the tip of a long piece of rebar(cheap concrete reinforcing bar) and slid it through the isulation easily to make a track for the cable. I acutally had to duct tape 2 pieces end to end bcause it is so long. When it came out the other end I taped wire to it and pulled it back.
