I recently struck a submerged object near marker #4 on Cherry Creek in Denver area. We almost came to a halt. When we pulled the boat and looked at it, there was a 6" chunk missing from the bottom forward edge and a split almost to the top. So, I bought a new board from the Anchorage (Mac dealer) and sailed the follwing weekend with it. Unfortunately, the water was down two feet and there were no notices of such, so we sailed right into a shallow and destroyed the new board. In the past, with the original board, we grounded plenty of times with no damage. This new board, however, could not take 6" of mud and gravel. They said all new boards are "break away". I suppose with the newer boats, the glass is getting so thin that the boards are also thin. I have the new board on my shop table and am laminating several layers of glass onto it. Question #1-does anyone have an old board for sail? Question #2, has anyone else had this problem?
