Hello, I own a Lewmar D1 tripple rope clutch and have been happy with its performance. However, I am curious to know if I can purchase replacement parts. It is only two seasons old and has a broken (plastic) handle on one clutch of the assembly that was caused by an accidental mis-step on the deck during routine main sail covering at the end of the day. It looks like the hardware is made so that the handle connection pins could be driven out for replacement. Otherwise the clutch is in good working condition. Part B of my question, of course is....if parts are replaceable, where do I go to aquire them? Or if there is a factory service option for this, what are the contact names, numbers and address? And...my comment also is that the plastic handles appear to be a week point in the otherwise excellent line gripping design. The clutch is intended for cabin deck top use where feet often pass in normal sea motions of all sorts. If the clutch is left in the open position, as it often is when releasing a halyard and pulling down a main sail for example, the handles are apparently vulnerable to missplaced feet. Thank you in advance for your response. Marc Ebbs Ranger 26, Mattapoissett, MA

Spare Handle

Marc, A spare handle is available at our master parts distributors, and contact information for them is availabe at our website. www.lewmar.com I checked into getting an alloy handle, but those are not available at this time. Stan Walton is our warranty/service manager. He is available at (800) 362-7212. Please let him know about this. He will also assist you with getting the replacement.
