I have a `95 cat 36,with a factory installed "cold machine". The house bank is 450 a/h, and is always 80% up. Within a typical 2 week period, it frosts up heavily, then melts. Consequently, there is frequently quite a bit of water on the contents, and the items in the freezer thaw and then refreeze. I`m berthed in San Francisco bay, so there isn`t alot of heat to contend with. The cooling fins are clean, and not damaged. Maybe the thermostat? Is there a way to check it? How is it removed and replaced? Also, the insulation around the lid looks fine, and I put silicon buble weatherseal on either side of the hinge where there was a small gap. Many thanks for any help you can offer. Randy Roe

Yea...been there too...

Randy... We have a 2001 C-36 mkII (1 month old) and are experience similar - though probably not quite as radical stuff as you describe. Have been slowly cranking up the "cold switch," (now @ 6 out of 7) and still get the thaw/freeze/thaw/freeze thing. We, too are in SF Bay area. Await replies/suggestions from that world of knowledge out there. Bob.
