Phil, The fan on the A/B Cold Machine on my '83 Catalina 30 cycles on and off constantly. The unit does not seem to cool. Is this an indication of low refrigerant or a shot condenser or is it not enough info to go on?? Is there a service tech in the Sarnia Ontario area you can recommend?? Looking for Help!! Jim Felix

The fan cycling on an off is normally caused by the thermostat. 1. Does the compressor cycle on and off as well? 2. What is the voltage at the electronic module when the unit tries to come on?

Jim Here's a copy of my recent post to the refrigeration forum: Doing Your Own Research Really Helps Many thanks to this section. My condenser fan wasn't working. Instead of asking the proverbial "What's wrong with my unit?" question, and requirng the host to answer the same question that had already been asked and answered, I read all the past threads, did the forensic work on my own as suggested by earlier articles and traced it down to a faulty fan. Now I don't have to worry about my electronic module, I know the type of refrigerant I have, I know the tye of compressor and all sorts of other information in addition to the owner's manual's data. Do your homework first, it really helps. Thanks again for a very helpful series of pertinent information. One additional suggestion: Many Catalinas have been provided with a 15 amp fuse in the panel, rather than the 10 amp fuse recommended by A/B and as installed on the unit. I suggest that you check the fuse or breaker at your panel to make sure it is a 10 amp to match the fuse in the Cold Machine. ************************ There is a LOT of information already here in this forum. It takes a while to read it all, but it is amazing how helpful it is. Please give it a try. Best regards, Stu
