I am installing an ice box conversion unit in my 83 Catalina 30 . I need to cut out a section of the icebox liner. My usual tool would be a jigsaw however there is no clearance for this tool. Anyone have any pros or cons for these so called "cutout tools" that use a vertical spinning blade?

You mean something like a "Roto-zip" tool? If so, get one & you'll never use your jig saw again to cut holes. Fast cutting, easy to guide, and for precision cuts, you can make up a jig or template to help guide the tool. Downside is that they really create a lot of sawdust or fiberglass dust.
