Irwin 32.5 Great Oak
Hi everyone,
I have an 1974 Irwin CC 32.5 and my cutless bearing is bad. Has anyone ever replaced one? and do you have to take the rudder off to get the shaft out?
Thanks Gary

Cutlass bearing

Hi Gary, I too have an Irwin 32.5. My cutlass bearing will need replacing at some point as well since it's already got a little bit of slop in it as well.

Here's a link to to drawings of the boat. It looks as though the prop shaft is short enough to be removed without having to remove the rudder. However I can't be sure. I'll be out at my boat this weekend (it's on the hard) and if I remember to, I'll give it a measure.

No need to remove rudder

Hi Gary,

I was at the boatyard today.

The prop shaft on the 32.5cc is pitched at an angle that let's the shaft clear the rudder (just below). It even looks like there is enough room for the shaft to slide completley out before even reaching the rudder.

Best regards,

Hal
