Dear Readers,
Two weeks ago my Cutles Bearing when up in smoke. This after many years of service.
I found out that the size of it was not coming near the present once. I had to make one up from PTFE, which works well, till now.
Does anybody know if the original once are still available. I have a 37CC year:1978.
Thanks very much.

Martin, As I stated in my question about prop size, my shaft is 1 1/4 inch, about 32 mm, and cutlass bearings in that size are pretty common in the US. The lengths vary. Could I ask the size of your engine / prop combo and are you happy with the boats performance ?

First of all, thanks for your reply. Secondly, I'm sorry I couldn't come back to you sooner. I've been away and couldn't get back to you.
The lenght of the bearing is about 4 to 4,5 inches, I would say. The boat is in the water again, so cant really say.
The engine is a Perkins 4108, which is very good to me. It hasn't let me down once.
At the moment the bearing is a localy made one from PTFE, sort of Teflon. I must say that it is wearing out already, because I can hear it making noices during idle run, in gear, of the engine.
