Guys,

It's haulout time again, what joy!

I cannot find where I put the cutlass bearing OD size in my files from the previous changout.

I have a 1980 C30 MII. I would like to order it so the pirates.....I mean boatyard won't jack the price.

Also, I see Johnson Cutlass hase a non-metallic sleeve. Has anyone used this.

I thought about designing a bearing with a hex nut formed into the rear of the bearing. One could use this to turn and back out the bearing without having to remove the shaft. I haven't seen any like this. I can't believe I'm the only guy to think of this????

I believe the metallic one is the Johnson BACK model. Non metallic model is BABE.

Size should be 1"ID x 1 1/4"OD x 4"

That's from my notes from my '79 C30 so it's probably the same

GPD,

Thanks for the info pal. I keep exacting records for everything I do on the boat, but couldn't find where I had it written down.

Was your boat made @ the California yard? Apparently, they made boats here & at the plant in Largo FL.

I knew it was either 1-1/4 or 1-3/8", but you know what they say, "A mind is a terrible thing".

I know the feeling! I started writing everything down as I fix/maintain things! I even started noting the size of sockets for different bolts so I don't have to play the "which one fits" game every time I change the HX zinc or remove the dodger handrails!
