Well it has come time to replace the cutlass bearing on my 84 H31. I will probably do it in the three weeks weather permitting. So does anyone have any advise, sage wisdom, smart a..s comments? It is the first time I am doing it so any thoughts would be good.
Thanks

FYI you can also do this job without removing the shaft, which can be a big PITA. If you can get your hands on a cutlass bearing remover/installer you will only need to remove the prop and will save a lot of work.

I agree with Allan. Some people have made their own extractors from pipe and threaded bolts. I was lucky and was able to borrow a cutlass bearing puller. Whole job took less than an hour

The right tool fro the job

Yes I bought the STRUT PRO it worked great. I am going to write a short piece with photos when I get a few minutes. But let me say this it took less than an hour and there was no removing parts, shafts, or seals. No beating with hammers. It was smooth as silk. Just wait till you see the photos and read how darn easy it is.
