Cutlass Bearing/Plastic Bushing

Anyone know the life span of the plastic bushing in the cutlass bearing?

Literature search suggests these bearings can have a 10 year life expectancy but this will vary with use, shaft alignment and local conditions. A correctly sized bearing on an unworn shaft will exhibit very little movement, if any. Excess movement will cause problems, just as any worn bearing will with rotating parts.

Anyone know the life span of the plastic bushing in the cutlass bearing?
Mine is 22 years old from the factory and the shaft shows no radial deflection. Mind you, I'm a nut for shaft alignment.

Curious as to your mention of "the plastic bushing". Unless you've got an oddball, the internal sleeve is grooved rubber.

What makes you think you need a new one ?
