Cutlass Bearing maintenance on my series 1 Vega #1005, Ikiturso

Hi there,Last weekend I started the project to change the cutlass bearing on my series 1 Albin Vega. The bearing had some play in it when I bought the boat, that after talking to a fellow Vega-owner and club boat inspector, I decided to tackle it this year. Ikiturso has a -86 Yanmar 1GM10M and a solid prop. I spent some time online just finding out what the project would entail (Thanks, SteveB), where to source the replacement bearing and other stuff to keep in mind when fiddling about. Last weekend I got my tools together and recruited my dad to give a hand with an extra pipe wrench. In the end, the nut keeping the prop in place came out pretty easily. The prop itself required some heating with a heat gun before the prop puller could do it's job and got the prop dislodged. All in all, it only took an hour or so. The session ended with coffee and cinnamon rolls in the early spring sunshine. After I got home I spent a couple of hours getting old paint off the prop and gave it a shine with some sandpaper.Next weekend I'll be getting the boat out from under the tarp and start working on getting the shaft itself disconnected from the engine. I guess that's entails removing the packing gland, detaching the coupling from the transmission and then separating the shaft itself from the coupling.Shaft and cutlass bearinghttps://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-BlbOGULnve0/Uy6_1sCRLXI/AAAAAAAABZ0/fCO78sxyWzw/w1013-h760-no/IMG_20140323_130357.jpgCoffee and cinnamon buns!Sign in - Google Accounts before cleaninghttps://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/t1.0-9/10153840_10200870215955961_812580113_n.jpgAll cleaned and shinyhttps://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/t1.0-9/1509146_10200870216035963_998559563_n.jpg
