Customs at Port St. Lucie and Stuart FL

The local airport is south of Stuart but I dont know if they have customs.
At Lake Worth you can dinghy to the Riviera Beach marina and walk to the cruise ship dock.
In Ft Pierce, it is a cab ride to the local airport where you can clear.
Have you been in the St Lucie inlet? Good in settled weather but if there is strong east wind, it can be interesting.

When you call from the St Lucie inlet to check in with customs they will tell you to go to the office at the Ft Pierce Airport. It is about a 40 minute drive. I'm on a mooring in the St Lucie River now, if you need a drive to customs I have a truck available and could give a lift if needed. The St Lucie inlet can be dangerous, especially with a sailboat, use caution.

Fort pierce is all weather and well marked. nice city marina too.
I would not try st lucie with N winds this time of year. shifting shoals/bars

Thanx everybody on your advice. Will evaluate the weather conditions at West End before heading back. Likely will choose Lake Worth Inlet instead of Port St. Lucie Inlet if seas and winds are unfavorable. The forum really is a great one!
Yesterday went out. Prediction was 15 to 20 out of NW & 5 to 7 feet. Big breakers on the breakwalls but the inlet was fine.
Actual condition was NW 15 and seas 3 to 5 feet.
I was with several very knowledgable locals and they were surprised at how calm the inlet was. Said to stay away with strong east winds.

It is best to try for slack tide. These days they are releasing a lot of water into the St Lucie River. It flows into the inlet, strong east winds and you do get a rage effect, big hay stacks of water. The inlet is not the dog leg it used to be but not straight either.
Ft Pierce is a straight shot all weather inlet. If you are crossing from West End and then heading north, Ft Pierce is a shorter crossing time than Lake Worth.
